Based in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, Akeyo works at the Graduate School of Human Science of Ritsumeikan University and the Department of Education at The University of Tokyo. She completed her drama therapy training through Kansas State University's Alternative Track program.
Akeyo is the Japanese translator of Acting for Real by Renee Emunah, and has published two other books, one focused on child development and the other aimed at presenting drama therapy to Japanese students. She has offered courses to enhance creativity and communication using drama therapy as a medium in universities throughout Asia. Akeyo's goal of working with alternative track students is to spread the theory and practice of drama therapy.
